i'm a fan of layers.

my friend miss bethany webster cut my hair for me today. she just had a precious little baby girl (storri kate) so as soon as she was back to work it was time for a cut! it's not alllll that different, but it makes a world of difference to me.

i may or may not have got a little carried away on photo booth. :)

today i'm getting a hair cut, going to a couple of flea markets and going to a springfield cardinals game tonight at hammons field with our life group. michael takes his final today so he'll be FREE from school for almost 3 weeks. i work all weekend (boo), but next week i only work 2 days!!

next sunday is our one year! so, i'm thinking i'll share some of our wedding photos and my favorite memories of the day next week.

it's been a good year.

i'm ready now.

- our trip to Kansas City.
- a new job
- michael to be done with school
- remodel our master bathroom
- a new stove
- football season (crazy i know, but i love sunday afternoons napping while michael watches the game.)
- all the little babies to start showing up at our life group :)
- fall!!! am i crazy or what?

baby, baby.

many of my close friends from church are pregnant or have just had a baby. we have 4 in our life group that are expecting.... and our life group isn't all that big. last night i had a dream. i was VERY pregnant. (after seeing inception i try to remember my dreams, haha) it was a strange dream. another blogger i've never even met was in it and she was giving me lots of advice...even though she's never had a baby in real life. anyways, i woke up thinking WHAT IF i am. (but probably only had the dream because i had to stuff my bag under my shirts on the lost river at silver dollar city so it wouldn't get wet. i had a serious "baby bump") sometimes i think we're ready... and then michael walked back into the room (with his phone) after brushing his teeth this morning and said, "look at this car, do you like it? i'll buy it for you." he is not in baby mode. ;)

i love reading about babies, births and so on. so that when the time does come i'll be somewhat prepared. one of my absolute favorites is dear baby.

the kids came to visit... it was fun & tiring. :)

we are in the search for a headboard. (i know... we've been married almost a whole year with NO headboard!!) so, any ideas on where we could find a good one?? our dresser is a walnut danish style (flea market find and michael refinished it).

parks & the weekend.

the kids & my mom are coming to visit today! so, we're taking them to eat lunch with michael and then to a couple of parks. one with fountains & a robot man and one with a lake & ducks.

life.

my life has been pretty dull the past two days. i've worked 24 hours and slept the rest. michael has been crazy busy with school... his finals are almost here and we're both ready for a break! we've decided to stay close for our anniversary for a couple of reasons, so we're heading up to kansas city for a few days to just get away and relax... and go to worlds of fun. :)

my big brother is leaving for a mission trip to haiti tomorrow, so please say a prayer for him as he shares God's love. (his name is michael and yes my husband's name is michael, too.) i may hang out with his kids again tomorrow.

i'm such a proud aunt this week. sorry for the overload of nieces/nephews posts! ;)

i thought i knew exactly what i wanted when we first started looking for a house. we looked at lots of houses with "character" but most of those came with many (expensive) fixes that needed to be done. we didn't want a home with a basement that flooded (yucky mold is a scary thing.) and most of the older homes had this problem. so, when we found this house i got excited. it was built in 1989, so it's not too old and it still has some "character" like a fireplace and pretty stairs. eventually, i'd LOVE to put darker wood floors in. wouldn't it look soooo pretty? i think so.

mini-trip

happy monday!! (i'm not working today, so it's happpy day for me!)

tomorrow millie and i will be taking a "mini-trip" to visit my family. i am SO excited!! my nieces and nephews are all getting big too stinkin' fast. brennan (9), evie (8), jackson (4) and nolan (1) are all visiting from texas. mom will also be watching my sister's kids all week... kadi (4) and hagen (2) so, needless to say, mom will be busy! it's going to be good to see everyone! i wish michael could go, but he has to stay in springfield because of work and school. boo on school!

by they way, my sweet grandma just turned 80 and i'm getting really good at stealing my sister's pictures from facebook. ;)

God is so good.

it's nice to have little reminders that my God is for me.... even in my weakness, when i mess up... He's there. this song is so powerful (as it seems all of kari jobe's are... i love her songs!) so listen to it (if you please), and be blessed.

cleaning machine.

i'm not used to cleaning so much.... space. i mean, we got married and lived in a 1 bedroom/1 bath loft apartment downtown with an open floor-plan and it didn't take long to clean. now, we have a 3 bedroom/2.5 bath and i usually feel like i'm behind on the cleaning/laundry because now i have a yard to take of and a puppy to take care of. but, i'm not complaining. i feel so blessed to live in this house, to have clothes and to have my cute little millie girl (even though sometimes she makes it impossible for me to clean) i can see us staying in this house for years. i mean, eventually we'll want something different, but we can raise a couple of kiddos here. :) today i HAVE to be productive. so, this is all you get today. my day will be boring with nothing of interest to blog about.

i do have one question.

we're wanting to paint our front door...

give the outside a bit of a facelift.

what color would look... right?

right now it just blends in with the rest of the house.

we'll also be adding a front porch, possibly next spring.

(confession: i haven't taken pictures since we first moved in when nothing was in bloom so these pictures are from the listing when we bought the house. and, i'm too lazy to go out and take some now.

millie goes to the creek.

we took a long walk on a trail today with natalie and zeek. we found a little creek for the dogs to play in and i'm pretty sure millie loved every minute of it, because she likes water. when we got home she was tuckered out and so was i (i took a very long nap). it was HOT.

floating is a good way to exercise communication. michael wasn't used to "steering" and we weren't all that great at first...we ended up sideways, backwards and in a couple of tree limbs after going through some pretty crazy rapids (totally kidding...they were nothin, i mean we live in missouri) but, after 14 miles i think we succeeded in communication and some mad canoeing skills. we didn't even tip the canoe. it was a good day on the river.... although there were lots of crazies that were a little too wild and way too drunk.

next year, we'll take millie. i think she'll love it.

i need ideas.

we can't decide where to go for our "one year"...

yes, we're just now planning and it's less than a month away.

any ideas? michael is giving me too many options and i'm bad a making decisions.

i ran.

my friends i spent the weekend with like to run. marilyn and meagan woke up early today and went together. i need to get into shape, so i took millie out and jogged around the neighborhood (we usually just walk) it was good for millie. she was so calm when we got back and just walked around the living room changing between air conditioning vents. this week i have wed, thurs and fri off and i plan on taking her to a couple of different trails... i'm excited to start running again.

still "newlyweds"

we went on a camping trip over the weekend... and we were the youngest couple there. it was good to be with friends and it made me excited to see how our marriage will grow over the years. in less than a month we'll be married for one whole year. it's been a good year. i love my husband and my life.

i like looking at our wedding photos from time to time and our photographer let me know one of them popped up in the 417 Bride 2010 Summer magazine.

more on camping later. :) we're laying on the couch, watching 50 first dates, and millie is chewing on a bone. life is good.

long lost friends.

So, you know those friends that you hang out with all the time and you call your "best friend" and then something changes.... like you move or you get a boyfriend (whom you eventually marry).... and you don't see/talk to them nearly as much as you should. well, my goal is to keep better contacts with those friends. i've made new friends where i live now and friends that are very dear to me. but, i miss those old friends!
