a post without pictures.

i actually did stuff today and i didn't take one single picture... not even with my phone. well, i got one of a cute little girl, but she was hamming it up so it's blurry.  i got out of bed at a decent time this morning and got around.  i went to a couple of flea markets, but didn't find anything i couldn't do without.  it was nice to just walk around and look at everything.  then, i had lunch at the yum yum bowl with a very pregnant, cute friend.  she had a doctor appointment after we went and she's 70% a-faced!  *note to self: eat at yum yum bowl when i want baby to come. ;)  i was a good "grown-up" and got my oil changed and car inspected.  and then i took sonic to a well-deserved friend.  she has two little ones plus keeps another 6 month old three days a week.  and now i'm out the door to go to life group.

i like this little burst of energy i had today.  it was nice to get out.  the weather was still cool, but i didn't wear a heavy coat anywhere i went.  i didn't even turn on the television one time today and i think i'll try to make more of a habit out of that.  no baby bump photos today!  but, i'm thinking it grew overnight. i feel bigger today, but then i saw bryndi (my pregnant friend) and thought my little bump was nothin'.

hope you have had an excellent day!  what'd you do?

hello thirteen weeks ♥

it doesn't seem possible that i'm already hitting the 2nd trimester!  it seems like time is flying... i remember at the beginning of january saying that i'd be ok if it went by quickly and boy did it?!  seriously, where did january go?  this week started out pretty rough.  still major nausea and i spent most of monday laying around.  i complain about my job a lot... not so much here on the blog, but i used to say i wanted a new job every other day.  i still feel that way most of the time and now i'm staying put because of the insurance.  one thing that i actually like about my job is that i only work 3 days a week. so, this week i worked sunday and will work friday and saturday. (i do work "full-time"... i work three 12 hour shifts a week.) it's been nice having days off when i don't feel so hot.

my mom came to springfield today.  she enjoys taking me shopping... it's our bonding time. ;)  i got some cute shirts that will hopefully make it through the entire pregnancy. nope, they are not maternity.  they are just a size bigger than i usually wear and stretchy.  i'm hoping she'll be making lots more trips to see me.... especially after the beginning of march when we found out what we're having....yes, we are finding out.  guys, those little girl clothes are SO adorable.  i mean soooo adorable.  i looked at pretty much every little newborn clothing item in target  (this doesn't mean i won't be just as excited for a little boy, but those little dresses!!!)

i have one more day off before i have to go back to work and i put things off that i'll have to do... like getting my car inspected.  boo.  tomorrow will be a good day after i run all my errands...i am having lunch with my friend (finally!) unless she goes into labor tonight or tomorrow.  she's due next sunday with a little girl, eisley.  and tomorrow i'll take some proper bump photos with anna.  i've really been slacking on taking pictures lately. i feel bad because michael just got me my nikon for my birthday back in october and i don't use it near enough.... i have a feeling come august it will gets LOTS of use!  i really need to stop relying on my iphone to take pictures. ;)  i'll get better again... promise.

*the clothes in the photos are not showing off my new shirts. ;)

these past fews weeks have gone by so quickly.  it seems like we just found out about this little baby and now i'm already almost to my 2nd trimester!  i got a major tease at 10 weeks.  i started to feel much, much better and then this week has gone back to feeling like i did at 6 weeks (which was baaad).  it snowed here and my lunch plans were cancelled for yesterday.  i was meeting up with a friend that is having a baby sooo soon and she's adorable.  so instead, millie and i napped almost all day.... and it was nice.  so, i'm not going to lie, i haven't done much of anything lately and i'm super ready to start feeling like doing more.  i'll take that "boost of energy" anytime now. ;)  my belly is starting to get a little bigger, but i think it just looks like i had a few too many cheeseburgers. ha!

a good dad.

i was being lazy and decided to just blog from my husband's computer because it was downstairs by me and it's new.  does anyone have a macbook air? this thing is so light and tiny!!

anyways, i decided to snoop and see if he had any pictures on here yet... and i found that magical photo of him and our 4 year old nephew, jackson.  (i promise he's really a cute little boy)  guys, i teared up when i saw this.  my husband is going to be such a good daddy!  kids love him.  my niece (she's 5) wanted to ask him to be her prince and my nephew (he's 2) hangs all over him.  he's a fun-loving, goofy guy and i'm completely blessed.

i hope you've had an amazing monday.... the majority of mine was made up of doing laundry and trying to sweep, vacuum, dust away all the dog hair in our house.  seriously, millie sheds BAD.  i'll spare you by not showing the disgusting picture i took of it... but i'm pretty sure i could make another millie with what i cleaned up today.  i just did a deep sweep like this on friday...it's never-ending.  we're trying to keep her outside more, but today i discovered she made a little friend next door and has been digging by the fence.  i was greeted by a cute little face under the fence when i went to see the damage.

i did make some brownies today. :)
and now i'm going to make some sweet and sour chicken for dinner.... one of my favorites!

happy friday!

finally... a FREE weekend to do what we please.  it's been a while between the holidays and me having to work every other weekend.  we've started doing some major budgeting to see if i'll be able to stay home when baby gets here.  if you want an easy to use site i highly recommend mint.com.  we like it so far and it helps us realize where our money goes (hello eating out!)  stay-at-home moms:  how do you make it possible?  we've already decided to get rid of cable and not eat out so much.  a lot of people don't get it...they think it's too hard (financially) to be a s-a-h-m these days.  it's so important to us, though.  this is when it'd be handy if i were more of a craft-ster. ;)

i feel GOOD.  i'm still sleepy and kind of lazy feeling, but i haven't been sick except one time this week.  food sounds good again.  i'm still loving those lucky charms.  chips and salsa have been a go-to snack almost every day.  i'm really ready for spring ...i keep saying this over and over... but this time i'm saying it because i'm ready for FRESH fruit.  i've been getting some... but it's just not that good.

disclaimers: 1. it's stinkin' hard to take pictures of my belly.  we need to invest in a tripod i guess. ;) next week i'll do pictures with anna again.  so that will be easier.  2. i'm having a love/hate relationship with my hairs right now.  i wanted to let my bangs grow out and then today decided to see what it'd look like almost parted in the middle... umm it's strange!  i've had bangs for soooo long.

i was just impatient.

the snow continued to come down all afternoon and into the evening.

it's so pretty.

:)

winter weather advisory...rrrriiiight.

photo

we've been under a winter weather advisory that called for a possible 3-5 inches of snow.  i had high hopes to wake up to a pretty winter wonderland, but nope...  as of 3 pm that is it.  it's still coming down so maybe it will accumulate. i'm really ready for spring and spent most of my morning looking at spring-like clothes online, but if it's going to be cold and miserable at least we could have some pretty snow.  right?  right.

i also spent my morning going through allll the archives of llymlrs.  goodness... that girl is adorable.  i love her clothes and her hair. and, she has the best accent.

school officially starts back up for michael tonight.  BOO.  this is his last semester and we both are happy about that one.

i watched the bachelor on hulu today... i don't think i'll watch this season.  although, i'm rooting for emily.  her story about her fiance was soooo sad!  i even teared up a bit (maybe the pregnancy hormones kicking in some).

i'm still in my sweats... so maybe i should shower and do something with my day... or sit here and watch more hgtv. ;)

i need to start using that pretty little nikon of mine more... instead of being lazy and just using my phone.  i'll work on that.

how has your day been?

happy friday!

boy... i am exhausted!  i've spent the last month or so not doing too much on my days off.  but, today i had lunch with kourtney and anna.  then, went thrifting with anna and looked at fabric at the FM store to make pretty things.  oh and we stopped by the grocery store so i could get some lucky charms.... i needed them. ;)  we spent the rest of the afternoon at the girls house.  it's weird to think under 2 years ago i lived there too.  i miss that neighborhood so much and plan on moving there someday (in like 5 years). i'd say it was a day well spent.  i didn't buy anything, but anna found a cute sweater, boots and scarf for under $10.  we brain-stormed lots of projects we want to do and i'm so excited to have someone to motivate me.

pregnancy update:
10 w e e k s
i'm feeling WAY better than last week.  i feel really good when i can just be home and not work... good thing i only work 3 days a week.  i've been keeping down almost every meal and food is starting to sound/taste good again.  there's a very tiny bump starting to appear, but most of the time i'm just bloated.  i'm still pretty tired... and nap a lot on my days off.  i'm ready for the burst of energy i hear people talk about.

goals.

it's a new year!  i don't usually make resolutions, but this year i'd love to make some life style changes for the better.  and here's just a few:

more handmade:
i'm constantly browsing through blogs that are super crafty and fun.  i've said it before and i'll probably say it again:  i'm not super crafty.  but, i have decided to try out using my sewing machine that just sits pretty on my desk.  i hope to make some cute dresses/shirts for myself as i get bigger (i plan on living in dresses this summer) and hopefully make some cute little baby clothes.  my blogging friend, paige is always an inspiration for doing things handmade.  she makes some beautiful clothes for herself and her little girl, piper.

more home-cooking:
i'll be honest.... i don't enjoy cooking all that much.  i get stuck on making the same things over and over.  in the next year i hope to find a new love for making great dishes for my husband to enjoy.  we really need to start watching what we put in our bodies.  i'd love to eat fresh and try to stay away from foods with lots of preservatives.  maybe i should start a "what we had for dinner" on the blog so i have some motivation? ;)

more thrifting:
springfield is full of thrift/antique shops.  you know...it's the place rachel denbow finds all those cute things. in fact, there's a giant antique shop right down the street from us.  i rarely go anymore.  i want to get in the habit of going on my days off to find little items to fill our home with.  so, i'll be sharing more thrift finds here, too!

more outdoors:
this spring i want to spend lots of time being outside.  i want to eat those homemade meals on the back porch.  i realize i might be a little miserable this summer and plan on taking full advantage of the in-laws neighborhood pool....(watch out big preggo girl in a swimming suit!)  i want to take lots of walks in the park with millie.  aura is such an inspiration to me for being outdoors and enjoying nature.

more productivity around the house:
this spring we plan on finishing more on the house.  we want to get things ready before the baby comes.  i'm excited to redo our floors (bye-bye carpet in the living room, bye-bye ugly floor in the bathrooms upstairs) and of course we'll be making the transition of moving the guest room into the office and starting a nursery...it's crazy to think we bought this house a little less than a year ago and i didn't touch the guest room much because i knew it'd be the nursery someday.  i didn't think that day would come just a year later.  a big goal is to get better at doing (and putting away) laundry.  i've always been terrible at it.  ask my old roommates. ;)  i need to get into a good routine of doing housework. and maybe have company over more often this year... because then i'll get things done!

did any of you make resolutions/goals for the new year?  i'd love to see them....  leave the link. :)

meet baby g!

baby- 10 weeks

we got to see our little one for the first time today and it made things seem so real.  i mean, i had constant reminders before (mentioned in my 9 week post) but as soon as i saw baby on that little screen i just melted!  sooo sweet.  my doctor kept my due date at what we estimated from the beginning, so we'll meet baby early august.  he said everything looks great... except he feels i've lost too much weight since my last visit, so my goal is to gain back what i lost before my next appointment.  baby has earned the nickname "buck" from the in-laws and every time michael asks "how's my baby buck doing?"  i giggle a little bit.  don't worry, we have no intentions of naming our baby Buck.  ;)

happy monday!!

a little recap!

2010 was certainly a good year to us!  we didn't do much at all. ;)

we bought a house.
we got a puppy.
we bought an above-groud pool and then sold it.
we spent summer days on the lake & the river.
we celebrated one year of marriage.
i turned twenty-four.
we went to a chiefs game & to a pumpkin patch.
and we discovered we're adding a sweet baby to our family.

....we have so much to look forward to in this special new year!

michael will graduate with his marketing and sales degree this may.
i'll probably wish we wouldn't have sold that pool.
and we'll get to meet our little one early August!
