embracing the camera

i don't really like to be in pictures.
i feel like i'm full of myself if my blog has too many pictures of me.

but, it's my blog.  about me.  about my life.

i could never be a fashion blogger.

i usually have to ask michael to snap a photo of elle and me.
i have billions of pictures of elle and michael.
he just doesn't even think about it and i don't blame him.

i'm trying to learn my camera more.
it makes me nervous sometimes.
sometimes i really like pictures i take...
but then think...what if they only look good to me.

and they really aren't good.

photos are special.
sometimes i'm not good with words.
so a picture says more than i could.

today i embraced my camera.
i took pictures of myself.

and while i'm being such a sharer... here's something about me:  i'm most "me" when my hair is on top of my head, i'm wearing jeans and a v-neck t-shirt with flats of some sort.  and like i said before... i could never be a fashion blogger.  do you have any favorite blogs that have pretty pictures?  two of my favorites are che and fidel and andrew & carissa.

i linked up for the first time on emily's blog (the anderson crew)!  i didn't really follow the directions... since i'm all alone in the pictures.  elle was napping and michael was at work.  mom life.

p.s. this is my 500th post!

  1. You still put yourself in the pictures for your daughter to see when she's older, which is the whole point of Embrace the Camera. And you should be in your own pictures more...you're very photogenic!

  5. Love these shots and your glasses. I can relate to everything you said. My husband rarely piks up my camera... and my daughter is 2 so she isn't going to be taking any photos of me.

I am rarely in photos either... but I am sitting here in my uniform. V-Neck tank, stretchy skirt, hair on top my head and no shoes. Bt if some get put on they are going to be flat sandals.

  10. Love those photos! It's my first time with embrace the camera, and I know soooo well how you feel. I too have millions of photos (and I don't think I'm exaggerating here) of my husband and kids, but mommy? I can count those on one hand. But hey, if you ask me, your photos are really great, very unique, creative, lovely light, great perspective...

  11. I feel the same way about the whole embracing my camera thing. I love taking pictures but I just feel out of place and I guess just out of my comfort zone in general. I'm trying to work on this. :/
