our evenings and sleeping.

oh, hi!

this is what a typical evening looks like for us these days.  we eat dinner and enjoy time outside.  i used to go to bed early.  i mean reaaally early.  partly because i still woke up to feed ellie in the middle of the night and because she slept in our bed.  we loved co-sleeping for that season of our lives.  last week she officially started sleeping in her crib at night.  it is definitely bittersweet.  we have said we miss her pretty much every night.  but, it's good for us.  i get some cuddle time with my husband.  and i get time to enjoy a tv show with him or can pick up the house without having to chase her around or go to bed at 8 when she's in bed.  it takes a lot more effort (mostly emotionally) to make her sleep in her crib, but she's getting the hang of it.

aren't elle and michael precious together?  and, yes, i'm aware i look a little rough and e's hair is crazy... but these are the real moments of life and i am embracing it.

  1. My goodness Ellie has gotten so big! But as beautiful as ever. My best friend back home is naming her baby girl Ellie and it made me think of you :) I'm so glad you and the hubs are adjusting well to no more co-sleeping. We plan on co-sleeping for a while but I'm definitely trying to cherish these last three months until our little boy arrives. I love cuddle time. It's crazy to see her so big now when I feel like I was just reading your pregnancy posts. Time flies, hey? But you are such a wonderful mama and I'm loving your Ellie posts even more now!

    1. just a warning, some people have opinions on co-sleeping (and other parenting ways) but do what you two feel is best for your family! we did. we loved having her with us so much! michael was nervous when she was tiny so she slept next to me and then i pushed the unused bassinet up to the bed. but, as she became more mobile we put her in the middle. :) if you have any questions i'll be happy to share our experiences. i like that rather than someone telling you how to do something. ;) he'll be here before you know it!
